Pied Pectinata iguanas are among the most beautiful and sought-after iguanas in the pet trade. Their dramatic black-and-white coloration gives every animal a distinctive appearance that becomes even more impressive as it matures.

Also known as the Panda iguana, black-and-white iguana or Mexican spiny-tailed iguana, these remarkable animals combine exceptional coloration with a more manageable adult size.

Our High-White Bloodline

Different Pied Pectinata bloodlines produce varying amounts of white coloration. Some animals develop extensive white areas highlighted by deep black blotches and markings.

Our animals represent a selectively bred High-White morph, developed for strong contrast and extensive white coloration. Because every pattern is different, each Pied Pectinata has its own recognizable appearance.

A More Manageable Size

Pied Pectinata iguanas do not generally become as large as green iguanas or many Cyclura species. Animals from our bloodline typically reach approximately 32 inches, although some may grow to around 36 inches in total length.

Their smaller size makes them easier to accommodate than many larger iguanas, while they remain substantial, active animals that are fascinating to observe.

Active, Hardy and Intelligent

Pectinata iguanas are hardy, alert and highly active. They enjoy climbing, basking and investigating their surroundings, making them interesting animals to watch and work with.

With appropriate housing, heat, ultraviolet lighting and regular interaction, they can become impressive display animals and rewarding pets for experienced keepers.

An Omnivorous Start

Our hatchlings are raised on a varied diet that includes:

• Mixed leafy greens
• Fresh vegetables
• Crickets
• Worms and other appropriately sized insects

Young Pectinata iguanas are naturally more omnivorous. As they mature, the plant-based portion of their diet should become increasingly important.

Native to Western Mexico

Ctenosaura pectinata originates along the western coast of Mexico, from northern Sinaloa through southern Oaxaca. These adaptable iguanas inhabit coastal and inland environments where they climb, bask and shelter among rocks, trees and natural crevices.
